Love Advice from 4 of My Favorite Bloggers

2014-02-11 By Monica 4 Comments

Love yourself first and everything falls into line. ~ Lucille Ball Quote

Do you want to improve your loving relationships? Or perhaps meet that special someone this next year? Here is some thoughtful advice from four of my favorite personal development bloggers to help you find that true love.

Penelope TrunkFrom Penelope Trunk, author of PenelopeTrunk.com

“Love yourself first. There is no way to be a good parent, good spouse or good manager if you don’t love yourself first. Loving yourself is not an end-game, it’s a spectrum, and you never stop working on it. Also, you are always changing so accepting yourself is an ongoing process. Life is full of disappointments, and the biggest one is ourselves. It’s so hard to accept that. I am still trying. Every day.”

Farnoosh BrockFrom Farnoosh Brock, author of ProlificLiving.com

“How you love is a reflection of who you are. The better you get to know yourself, the deeper you can love the person in the mirror – yourself – and anyone else in your life. Love is a reflection of you, and everything you are. That’s why nobody can teach you how to love. You figure it out by figuring out who you are. The one advice I can give you on that is to work at it. Getting to know yourself is a work in progress and it needs to be intentional. Learn more about who you are and you will love better than you’ve ever imagined.”

Barrie DavenportFrom Barrie Davenport, author of LiveBoldandBloom and BarrieDavenport.com

“If you want to fully experience the joys of love with another person, you must first learn to love yourself and feel confident that you aren’t seeking love to complete you, but instead to enrich you.”

Patrik EdbladFrom Patrik Edblad, author of Selfication.com

“Don’t take it for granted. Realize that all of the loving relationships you have right now will some day, somehow, come to and end. Remembering this makes it much easier to be grateful for the special people in your life. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been neglecting this fact up until now. You can make the decision right in this moment to start appreciating what you have by always doing your part to help your relationships flourish. Over-deliver. Show up before you said you would. Always lend a helping hand. Listen intently. Don’t judge. Pay attention to what your special people need and help them get it. By keeping the end in mind you’ll have no regrets and your loving relationships will be taken to completely new and more meaningful level.”
